The Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Ecology and the Environment (CIREE) is a dedicated conservation research institute committed to addressing the urgent challenges facing our natural world. Established with a vision to integrate scientific research, community participation, and policy-relevant knowledge, CIREE operates across diverse ecosystems in India. Our work encompasses biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services, ecology, and human-wildlife coexistence, with an emphasis on neglected taxa and ecosystems.
We are committed to creating models of conservation that not only protect biodiversity but also empower communities, address social and ecological justice, and inspire future generations to value and steward the natural world. At CIREE, we believe that research is most powerful when it is inclusive, interdisciplinary, and rooted in real-world conservation challenges.
